If the pearls feel completely smooth and slip perfectly against each other without any resistance, they are likely fake.

The Scraping Test: If you lightly scrape the surface of a real pearl with a small knife, it will produce a fine white powder. Once you gently wipe the powder away, the real pearl will retain its original, beautiful luster underneath.
